Hello fellow blog readers!
We are fast approaching what the world knows as Christmas day, and what I cynically call coca-cola festivities. Now, I am not a fan of Christmas at all, but it does present a good opportunity for creative people to get creating.
I said this year I would make my own Christmas cards, but alas I failed to find the time and, well Christmas just crept on me silently, I turned around and BOO! IT’S CHRISTMAS time again! So there, I admit defeat as I march to the store to buy some. Nonetheless, you can still get creative even when you buy. Just because the card has a little message inside does not necessarily mean you can just write something like “lots of love such and such”.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am Spanish, and in Spain it’s not as traditional to give cards to every single person you’ve ever come across as it is in England. However, I do think this is a lovely tradition, but I have noticed some people don’t bother writing in them. Now, in Spain we may not give a lot of cards but when we do, we make the effort to put a little message inside.
So, with this in mind I try to get creative when writing cards, because let’s face it, there is only so many times I can write merry Christmas. And I feel the need to add a little something else to the message. My mother goes all out on this aspect, and usually writes the whole blank side of the card with lovely poems and messages of hope for the next year (how nice is she?!)
Also, there was a store (I’m sure it’s still there) close to where I used to live, and they sold the most quirky things I have ever seen. There, I bought precious gems such as: a gorgeous wrapping paper that said “Merry Fuc*ing Christmas” and a “Happy Fuc*ing Birthday” one as well.
So I was wondering, how many of you make your own presents or cards?
I think making presents it’s great. I think it’s lovely to take the time and effort to make something for a special someone. Of course, you have to make sure that it goes to a special someone, because would you really like to make something for someone not knowing if they would appreciate it properly?
So with this I shall leave you for the day, hope you all have a nice Christmas
